1 head cabbage
2 Green Peppers
1-2 Cans Diced Tomatoes
1-2 Cubes of Buillion (if desired)
1 Bunch Celery
6 Large Green Onions
Cut these vegetables to appropriate sizes. Add sufficient water so that they are covered. Boil for 10 minutes and cook at reduced heat until they are soft and tender. Add salt to your taste and eat as much as you like. Do not add fish, steak, chicken or any other type of meat to the soup.
How to take the cabbage soup To lose weight the soup is taken over a period of seven days as described below.
Day One: Only fruits are allowed but not banana. You are also allowed to drink tea, black coffee, cranberry juice, and water provided you don’t add sugar. You can take as much soup as you want.
Day Two: You should eat fresh, raw or cooked vegetables .Dry beans, sweet corns, and peas are not allowed. For dinner eat one big baked potato with butter. As of the cabbage soup, you may eat as much as you like. Fruits are not allowed at this stage.
Day Three: Baked potatoes are not allowed but you may eat as much fruit, vegetables, and your cabbage soup as you may desire.
Day Four: Sweets are not allowed but you can drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like. You may consume up to eight bananas together with your cabbage diet soup.
Day Five: You should drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water and eat 300-500g of beef and up to six fresh tomatoes a day. Remember to eat the cabbage soup at least once today. You have an option to eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef.
Day Six: baked potatoes are not allowed but you may consume beef and vegetables. You may consume two or three pieces of steak together with fresh vegetables or salad. However you should consume your cabbage soup at least once in the day.
Day Seven: You should not take alcohol or carbonated drinks. Remember even diet soda is not allowed. You may however eat as much of brown rice as you may desire but drink only unsweetened fruit juices, and vegetables. Eat your cabbage soup at least once a day. Bread is also not allowed.
If you are all set for weight loss and can withstand the cabbage soup diet for seven days (and we assume you are healthy), I have the following tips.
Taking the cabbage diet soup is more or less like taking one of the low calorie diets like the Atkins or the South Beach Diet. You are creating a calorie deficit everyday.
If you want to lose 30 – 40 pounds within a 6-month period you can do the following. Take the cabbage soup diet in the first month and aim to lose 4 pounds. Start on exercise otherwise you will lose muscle while you are on the cabbage soup. If you don’t do this you will feel weak and unable to complete 7 days.
Take the cabbage soup diet every month for 6 days with aerobics and resistance training at least 3 times a week. You will lose weight and it will not return. If you will exercise and begin to eat a balanced diet, the weight will not return.
For a person with a lot of weight to lose, the cabbage soup diet is the best way to start. Let me add, you must consult your family doctor before you start on the cabbage soup.
